Vascular Imaging

Vascular disease can affect any part of your body. If the blood supply is restricted moving to or returning from a part of your body then that part performs less well. Medipattern’s first vascular product focuses on the blood flow in carotid arteries which supply blood to the face and the brain. Vascular disease is most commonly a restriction in the flow which can be caused by plaque buildup, obstructions, hemorrhaging and other abnormalities. These conditions have been linked to vascular dementia, limited mobility, Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA), mini-strokes and strokes.

In the United Sates, strokes are the third largest cause for death but the number one cause for debilitating after effects. There are ways to reduce incidence of stroke and other vascular diseases. Prevention has been linked to both lifestyle and genetics.

For those who are at risk of stroke, imaging tests can be performed to determine the level of obstruction in the artery. A Duplex Exam, which is a combination of Ultrasound and Doppler, is used to measure the velocity in your arteries.

This is where Medipattern’s technology can help your physician. Another imaging test using ultrasound makes a little movie of your artery. Your physician selects an area of your artery to look at, then Visualize:Vascular provides a 3D image of that section of the lumen. Visualize also finds the max and min measurements in the lumen and calculates the luminal reduction within that segment of your artery. Visualize gives doctors a visual picture of the lumen which can help them better understand your condition.

Please consult with your doctor to determine the right path toward prevention for you.
